Nite People - Defense Mechanism & Stage Fright

My man DJ Manipulator hit me up with a couple tracks from his group's (Nite People) upcoming album What do You Mean You People? Coming out of Mass, Nite People consists of DJ Manipulator (DJ & Producer), Tone Capone (DJ & Producer), E the Real (Emcee), and Yohan DI (Emcee). The album drops on 7/8/09, and I've heard if you order via the website you get some extra goodies. It's also available through UGHH.com & Itunes. Below we've got Defense Mechanism, produced by DJ Manipulator & Stage Fright, produced by Tone Capone, to give you a feel of what these dudes are all about.

Inverse - So Far (Video)

Here's a dope ass video from one of my favorite Inverse tracks. Plus, this was a great way to kick off the So Far album too. If you don't have their work go to itunes or their myspace page and download it. Or click here for their So True EP.

Marco Polo Making Beats

I'm a big fan of production videos, especially when someone as talented as Marco Polo goes through his methods. A must see for any aspiring producers and hip hop heads in general. Make sure you scoop up Double Barrel.

The Kickdrums - Just A Game (Album)

The Kickdrums are a production duo that have made some moves recently. Since I don't know a whole lot about them, here's the bio from their myspace page...

Kickdrums is comprised of singer/songwriter/producer Alex Fitts (Fitts) and dj/producer Matt Penttila (Tilla). After producing and officially remixing for artists such as 50 Cent, Jay Z, Adelle, Kanye, Kid Cudi, and many others, Kickdrums re-emerge with a new original sound all their own in their debut album "Just a Game." As artists, Fitts provides vocals and song writing while both produce the tracks and perform the material live. Kickdrums plan to tour this summer in support of "Just a Game" and recently completed a video for the lead single directed by Rik Cordero.

Below is a tasting of their new album, the title track, Just A Game.

Quest tha Youngn Ft Reks & Termanology - To Be Nice

To Be Nice.. Another Statik banger to rock your brain matter. All 3 MCs rip their respective verses. If only 1,789,452 other rappers knew what it meant "To Be Nice"... maybe I'd actually listen to half the ish that comes out. Big ups to these dudes once again.

Follow the Leader

Just caught wind of this album on The Giant Peach album scroll bar. If you mixed the swagger of 8Ball and MJG, the funky creativity of Outkast and smothered it between two NES's, I think this would be the result. The video is bananas and I'm aching to cop that gold chain PS2 tee.

Gotta keep this short 'cause I'm hitting the Blunt Club right now to see Saigon but pick up Hello World at ya'll usual outlets. If you don't know where those are, follow someone who does...or just click The Giant Peach link above and cop it.

Easy.

What's Wack 4/30/09

What's wack: Being taught how to be a good freestyler by a dude who tucks in oversized t-shirts only in the front. Did this guy graduate from the Jim Jones Institute of Fashion? You know when we're getting to that point when there's a demand for a DIY freestyle video. Freestyling for Dummies next?

KRS-ONE, Buckshot and Tony Touch Freestyle

Dope freestyles are refreshing as sipping cold water on a hot April day in Phoenix. How hot? 103 degrees. How would I know? Because I'm listening to this freestyle while sipping on some cold ass water.

KRS-ONE and Buckshot. Survival Skills out August 25th. Be on the lookout.

Inspire 'Dos' - Marco Polo

If you been reading this blog you probably seen the previous entry, an inside look at Rashid Hadee at his studio. You gotta love it. So basic. So simplistic. Yet the sounds rival more well known producers who create theirs in multi-million dollar playgrounds. The thick intricacies of drum patterns, sample flippage and multi-layered vocal stretching, all created without the use of an Eventide...holla if you feel me. But on the real though, Polo get a mic stand man.

Diamond District - In the Ruff (Album)

I'll make this easy on myself and quote Oddisee's post... "In The Ruff is the highly anticipated debut album from new DC hip hop group “The Diamond District”, created by state veterans Oddisee, X.O.& YU. In The Ruff is the answer for any lover of hip hop who asks the question - “Where did that grimy East coast sound go?”
